Community Invited to 6th Annual Juneteenth
Celebration at Wooster Grove Park on June 19, 2026

Walden, NY – The SPOMA Foundation, Inc. is proud to announce the 6th Annual Juneteenth Community Celebration, taking place on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Wooster Grove Park in the Village of Walden. This free, family-friendly event will begin at 12:00 PM, with music provided by the popular DJ Don Doru, who will be live on set to kick off a day of celebration and unity.

Dedicated to commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, this year’s celebration promises to be fun-filled, offering a wide variety of activities for all ages. Attendees can look forward to live music, dancing, delicious food, local vendors, raffles, and much more.  

The SPOMA Foundation, Inc. invites families, friends, and community members from Walden and surrounding areas to join in honoring this historic occasion—a day celebrating freedom, culture, community, and progress.

Event Highlights Include:

Family Fun: Enjoy interactive games and engaging activities for all ages.

Dancing: Move to the beat with lively music and line dancing throughout the day.

Free Food: Complimentary hamburgers and hot dogs will be available for children 13 and under.

Food Trucks: Explore a variety of cuisines from local food trucks offering delicious dishes.

Raffles and Giveaways: Enter for a chance to win themed gift baskets and other prizes generously donated by community supporters, including a local basket artisan, the Town of Montgomery Girl Scouts, a family-sponsored back-to-school drive, and individual community contributors.

The SPOMA Foundation Inc (Sacred Place of my Ancestors) is a community-based organization dedicated to embracing a rich and culturally inclusive history of all Americans.

We aim to uncover the missing history of the Black and Indigenous peoples  here in the Town of Montgomery and of the Greater Hudson Valley. Our Goal is to create a legacy of remembrance and continuity for the Sacred Place of My Ancestors. Through historical findings, development of curriculum, community education, and cultural celebration, we strive to recreate a more accurate and inclusive narrative of our history which promotes cross-cultural dialogue and exchange for people of all colors and nationalities to engender a more united and harmonious Hudson Valley.

We Honor Juneteenth Day with Tradition and Celebration. Our annual Juneteenth Celebration is dedicated to expanding the festivities to encompass a diverse array of cultures and traditions that reflect the experiences and heritage of Black Americans, commemorating their freedom from legalized slavery.
